ItzaZoo

ItzaZoo software is a great way to get kids interested in reading. By playing with charming zoo animals who communicate with you via talk bubbles that can be read aloud, kids join in adventures by creating their own artwork for the animals. The drawings get incorporated into the game and animate via a revolutionary technology called "Living Ink." The technology behind this game is truly amazing to behold.

It is not available online version and it is Windows Vista, XP and 7 platform support. The price is $ 19.99.

ItzaZoo is truly a remarkable piece of software. It brilliantly uses funny, silly characters to attract kids to the game, and then delivers a story in a way that motivates kids to read. By asking kids to contribute to the story by drawing things and then animating their drawings and incorporating them into the story, kids commit to this game. They are motivated to read the questions asked by the animals so that they can figure out what to draw next. This amazing "Living Ink" technology anticipates what the child might draw and then takes what is drawn and makes it fit within the story. It fills in the child's drawings with appropriate color and detail and then resizes them to fit the situation. For example, when you are playing with the turtle, he asks you to draw him a new shell. Whatever you draw, the game resizes it to magically fit on his back. Another great aspect of this game is its replayability. Every time you play, you have a different experience because your drawings will always change. This game is appropriate for kids ages 4 to 8; and perfect for those just starting to read. It helps them to decode words by associating highlighted words with objects that they draw. This is children's software at its best – don't miss this one.

PBS KIDS PLAY!

PBS KIDS PLAY! is an educational hangout for kids age 3-6 that uses PBS TV characters (Curious George, Mama Mirabelle, The Berenstain Bears, and more) to teach. Through the multi-leveled games, kids can learn a number of age-specific things. There's also a place to customize their room and collect their favorite things around the sites. Parents have to pay a monthly or annual fee.Subscriptions are $9.95 a month, $49 for six months, or $79 annually after an initial free incentive period.

It is a free online game and can be played here. PBS KIDS’ Online SchoolReadiness Program: 2012 Universal Studio and/or HMH

PBS KIDS PLAY! benefits kids and parents -- kids obviously learn things and parents can get reports of their kid's progress, set a computer time limit, and easily get information about the learning goals for each game. Yes, it's easy for a kid to get hooked on the cheery site but that's OK in this case: The bold colors, friendly environments, and familiar cartoon faces all make learning fun. And what kids learn -- from matching ingredients in a recipe to identifying objects by color to basic computer and mousing skills -- are all age-appropriate. The limited amount of games is the site's biggest drawback, but updates happen every week so the amount of things to do will increase. The best part: The site keeps track of a kid's progress, and games have three levels; each teaches kids more advanced concepts.

Leo's Pad: Preschool Kids Learning Series

As the storyline progresses, kids can join in to help the characters through various learning activities (disguised as challenges or activities for the characters), some of which include co-play options for parents. Listen for verbal instructions and feedback. Parents can check out the Parent's Pad to track their kid's progress and see what they're learning.

It is a free iPad App and requires iOS 6.0 or later. It needs 830 MB size. Click here to view on iTunes. It is developed by Kidaptive Inc.

Leo's Pad: Preschool Kids Learning Series includes interactive elements that help kids learn everything from playing well with others to measurement. Kids engage in a set of story-related activities such as drawing a birthday card or assembling a bridge as they watch the animated stories and listen to related songs. There are also co-play games designed for a kid to play alongside a parent using this app.On the downside, some of the songs may be a little overblown and long for some preschoolers. Also, some of the activities' feedback may be overwhelming for some kids, repeatedly prompting them to keep going when they need more time to think or if they're slowly making a decision what to do next. Otherwise, there's very little that needs improvement on this excellent appisode series. At the time of this review, the series is up to four free appisodes, with more to come, although it seems questionable whether they will remain free. Each appisode builds upon the same theme but has a distinct storyline and unique activities. Leo's Pad is a high-quality, educational app for preschoolers.
